A FORTIFIED roof is built to a tougher standard than code, with specific upgrades verified by an independent evaluator. The system includes a sealed roof deck, stronger deck attachment using ring shank nails, locked-down roof edges, high-wind vents and upgraded flashing. Each of those steps gets photographed as we build. That documentation is what earns the certificate.
Many insurance carriers offer savings for homes with a certified FORTIFIED roof, though the discount varies by carrier and by policy. We cannot tell you what your insurer will do. What we can do is build and document the roof so it qualifies for certification, then hand you the paperwork to take to your agent.
